The WAGER, Vol. 3(51) – State of The WAGER, 1998

image_pdfimage_print

This issue marks the end of the WAGER’s third year of publication and the completion of volume three. Each week, an average of nearly 8,000 people read the WAGER. With the advent of the online edition in 1999, we expect this number to increase dramatically. The editors wish to thank all readers, and cite with particular gratitude the roughly 300 who responded to the survey sent out by fax last month.

Publishing online will greatly increase our editorial flexibility while maintaining the same mission. Please note that in order for us to re-allocate resources toward publication on the Internet, we encourage all readers to grant us permission to remove them from the fax list. Distribution by fax is costly and environmentally detrimental. Many of you have already expressed your preference for the on-line version when you returned the readership survey. If you have yet to do so, please return the survey or contact us by e-mail (doa@hms.harvard.edu) or by fax (617-432-2593) to transfer your subscription. Of course, we will remove no one from the fax list until the WAGER is fully on-line, which should occur during the first quarter next year.

The table below summarizes some of the more salient results gleaned from the survey, providing a rough profile of the average WAGER subscriber.
