Register now: Addiction Medicine Continuing Education Course
We invite clinicians, practitioners, and allied health professionals who treat clients with addictive disorders to attend the 2014 Addiction Medicine Continuing Education course, to be held October 10-11 at the Revere Hotel in Boston. Michael Botticelli, recently nominated to be director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, will provide the Keynote Address: A Drug Policy for the 21st Century.†
The primary focus of the 2014 course is "A Case-based Approach to the Integrated Treatment of Addictive Disorders and Other Mental and Medical Conditions." Our expert faculty provides a forum for dialogue and participant interaction through lectures, case-studies, and Q & A. Participants will learn methods of diagnosis and protocols for intervention and management strategies for patients with substance abuse and dependence. New this year, we broaden our focus to include behavioral expressions of addiction, particularly gambling disorder. Participants will learn how gambling disorder shares similar risk factors and treatment needs with substance use disorders. They will also learn strategies for screening for gambling disorder.
Our credentialing agencies include the American Medical Association (AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™), the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders (CAS credit), Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certifications, Inc. (MCVCAC/MBSACC), National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), National Association of Social Workers (NASW) (Substance Use Disorders continuing education contact hours), and National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). We certify that this course meets the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (Regulation 244 CMR 5.00) toward relicensing. CEU hours obtained through this coursework will be recognized by the Mass. Council on Compulsive Gambling as valid toward the 30 hours of problem gambling hours necessary as a part of the application to receive a Mass. Problem Gambling Specialist (MAPGS) Certificate.
